[accordion-section-start title=”Frequently Asked Questions“]
What is Celebrate Recovery? Celebrate Recovery is a biblical and balanced program to help people overcome their hurts, habits, and hang-ups. Whatever is behind the pain in your life: procrastination, guilt, anger, rage, fear, anxiety, divorce, alcohol abuse, perfectionism, insecurity, overspending, overworking, overeating, grief, abuse, drugs, codependency, sexual addictions, hypochondria, hurtful relationships, gambling, lying or the need to control. No matter the struggle, Celebrate Recovery can help you face and resolve the problem behind the pain.
Who is it for? Anyone and everyone who wants to overcome destructive habits.
What age groups are appropriate for participation? Ages 18 and above.
Why do I need to attend? We have all hurt ourselves, we’ve all hurt other people, and we have all had others who have hurt us. This means each of us needs to heal from the effects these hurts have had on us and from the control they have in our lives.
What will it do for me? Celebrate Recovery will provide a safe place for you to begin to work on issues that have been keeping you trapped and separated from the life that God intended for you to live, and in some cases, things that have kept you separated from God.
How often does the group meet? Celebrate Recovery meets every Friday night at 6:30 pm, year-round.
What does a typical evening look like? Large group worship and teaching begins at 6:30 pm. This is where everyone meets together for a time of worship, and then a recovery centered teaching or a personal testimony of a changed life. There is no pre-registration or sign-ups. When you arrive you will be greeted by someone who will help you become acclimated.
· Small Open Share Groups begin at 7:30 pm. This is the time we break into separate gender specific groups where each person is safe to share and hear from others with similar hurts, habits, and hang-ups.
Where does Celebrate Recovery meet? In the Club House (through the West Entrance of Christ The Rock Community Church, W6254 Highway 10-114, Menasha)
Do I need to sign up or call ahead? You do not have to sign up; just show up!
Is childcare available? We do not offer a childcare option at this time. Celebrate Recovery is for adults 18 years of age and older.
How much does it cost? There is no fee.
How many weeks does it last? Celebrate Recovery is not a “course,” but the structure of the teachings on Friday night repeats every year. This way you can begin at any time.
Are there groups for men and women? The small groups are gender specific.
Do I have to speak before a group of people? No. There is no pressure or requirement to share. You are free to pass during small group. However, as your journey of healing continues, you will discover how important this sharing is for God’s healing to occur.
Who are the leaders that qualify for this type of ministry? Like you, our leaders are repenting and/or recovering from the hurts, hang-ups or habits in their lives. They have completed the participant’s guides, have received the recommended training for leadership in Celebrate Recovery, remain accountable in their specific area of recovery, and desire to serve and help others find wholeness, growth, and spiritual maturity.
What makes this program different from non-Christ-centered 12-step programs? Most people are familiar with the classic 12-step programs of AA and other groups. Based on the actual words of Jesus, Celebrate Recovery incorporates the eight recovery principles, found in the Beatitudes, with the 12-steps. We also begin each meeting with worship music.
Will there be anonymity for people to share their heartfelt concerns? Yes. Providing a safe place where anonymity is respected is a priority. CR provides a safe place, so you can be real and truly heal.
How will I benefit from attending Celebrate Recovery? The “road to recovery” from our hurts, habits, and hang-ups leads to wholeness, growth, and spiritual maturity. It doesn’t get much better than that! We don’t attend Celebrate Recovery to try and fix one another; we attend to support one another on the road to recovery.
How can I get involved? If you desire to serve, there are many different opportunities! If you are not serving, you are not truly in recovery, so please ask any leader how to get started serving.
